RE: Four Season Rated Fifth Wheels

I had a Terry Quantum 2004 which is very similuar to the Wilderness. We like the Quantum, and even bought a 2007 Quantum in the upgrade version which is better for colder weather then the 04s, Still I would not consider it 4 season. We usually go out several weeks in the summer and these are great units for that, but really not for all season, although if you have enough propane you could get by with it.

RE: Pointers for New 5er

Start with Roto Chocks, then levelers, and then just what ever your heart desires. I have a flag pole for the rear ladder that I really like.

RE: Fleetwood purchase

I've had several Fleetwood products. They have done a very good job with paying for anything under warranty. My 2007 unit has a 7 year extended warranty. I bought the extended warranty that the service warranty paid off very well. He is right. They have paid very well. Another thing I trust my dealer as he treats me very well, and takes care of me. However; they have dropped Fleetwood, so I have probably bought my last one just simply because the dealer changed to a differnt brand.

RE: Decision time. Any Advice?

I've had the Dodge diesel, and the Ford diesel. I have not had either one as gas. I will tell you this. There is no comparison in the construction quality between the Ford and the Dodge. I like the Dodge, but was really shocked at the better quality in the Ford. I'm very short, and My wife and myself prefer the comfort of the Ford seats. My Dodge did not fit a short person at all.
However; it is your call. Get what works for you..

RE: Ford 6.4L PSD.....Buy one or not?

We're running two 6.0s with no problems, and I hear that the 6.4 is even better. I think it would be a great truck for you.

RE: Goodyear G series and Rotochoks

Mor Ride came in and did an upgrade on my axles. They made them further apart from each other. Originaly they were so close that at times they would touch. This was causing frame problems. As a result this missed up my roto chocks. I called Pearl, and I was fixed up. I'll save the old ones as I may need them another time.

I would say if its in warranty take it to the dealer. Otherwise it will just cost us. Thats been my experience.

RE: Do you run your genset every month during winter?

Yes I run it every so often in the winter. I try to run it long enough to make sure the battery is well charged. I take the batteries out of the 5th so they can be charged but its a pain to remove the small one out of the generator. I keep synthetic oil in the unit so it starts very easy, and let it run about 1 hour and all is good.

RE: Fleetwood Prowler Regal Ax6 365BSQS

I should have mentioned this in my post. Our Quantum listed for over 60,000. I later ask the dealer what he would sell me a new one out right for insurance. He said he would have sold it for 50,000. This is 38.5' unit with a lot more bells and whistles then the older units. I think his price is definitely high.

RE: Help??question winterize/city water connection

On two differnt trailers mine missed up and would not let the city water in. Most are held on with 3 screws. This last one we just took it apart and took the check valve assembly out, which is a very cheap looking appartus. I've had a cap for the last trailer and so we just use it now on this one. Course if on city water it is great. You will get a lot more water flow without the valve in place. I started to replace the thing, and got to thinking about the water flow, and just decided I could screw in the cap whenever I took out side water hose off. It doesn't cause more pressure just a better flow.

RE: Fleetwood Prowler Regal Ax6 365BSQS

We've had two 38' Quantums which is close to being a twin to the Regal. We love the floor plan. Both units had a number of thing wrong, but when fixed have been fine. We have a great dealer and they got Fleetwood to fix everything. Our first was an 05, and now we have on 07 Quantum. The 07 is a lot nicer trailer inside, but the identical floor plan. It also has morride suspension and pin box. That really makes it nice.

RE: MAD!!!!!! Warning.......

I am so relived when I read stories like your and realize just how good Dickie Stout Motor Ranch in Amarillo really is. I can trust the service manager 100%.
It doesn't sound like you will get anything accomplished with that dealer, but hopefully you will find an honest one. In todays economy I believer I would be the best dealer I could so I could draw in business.

RE: propane tanks freezing up

We get really cold here in the Texas Panhandle. I've ran pickups on propane, and of course the house. We've never had one freeze up. I agree with the others you probably have water in the system.

RE: Kingpin Tripod

I've heard that if you drop the 5th about 1/2 inch on the tripod after getting it snug and use Rotochocks then you will have no movement. I use a tripod all the time, with the Rotochocks, but still have movement. I don't think I get enough weight on the tripod. I love the Rotochocks. If I was to do things different, I would probably go with some form of the JT Strongarms. Right now I don't want to spend that kind of money. For 25.00 you might want to try the tripod, but put just before you get the nose of the trailer level install the tripod and then let the trailer down just enough to get some weight on the tripod. Maybe that will work.

RE: Slip Plate Lube

I agree with a previous post. When the hitch is taken apart per instructions, then the turntable can easily lubricated with the areosole can.

RE: I found a place to dump the tanks when we get home!

I just moved from 3800 sq ft. home to 1800 sq ft. Just tired of a large yard and home. Now I'm also close enough to a clean out. However; I have used the sewer solution for several years. I like the small hose and that you can go uphill. It is very slow, but works when you need to move the sewage for a longer distance. I'm thinking about going back to the large hose for regular use (for faster dumping), but would have to use the sewer solution to dump into my clean out. I called the company when I first got the SS, and they were very nice and helpful. I may be wrong, but thought you needed 1 inch pvc to move it on past the regular hose that comes with it. I can't remember what they said for sure.
The SS is nice, and I like it, but it does have some draw backs. Don't quit using it after one use. You do have to get use to it. It will not flush you black tank. YOu still need a black tank flush, but it does do a good job of empting, and moving it uphill and further distance. One more thing. I like the way it cleans itself. No more missing with a nasty hose.

RE: Be careful...there's staph out there!

There was a small problem with it here in the Texas Panhandle. I drive a school bus, and had to go to a class on MRSA. We now spray the buses down twice a day. It kills everything it touches and dries on. However; it only protects until somebody sits down again. I really think this spray should kill any thing that is in the bus. Our goal is to get the seats and handrails somewhat wet. Yes its out there. It can be handled with just a little good maintaince.

RE: Anyone else like the hallway design?

We have the same floorplan as FOREVER FREE. Ours is a Quantum, and this is the second one we have owned with the same floor plan. It offers a lot of room, and our 33 Yr old son (Navy Pilot) will go with us since we have the private bath.

RE: Leave the heat on low or turn it off???

What I did was to take a compressor and set it on about 50psi. I screwed it on the water inlet and blew out all the lines. If you really want to protect the system also pour a little Rv antifreeze in the pee traps, and you will be good if it goes colder then you expect.
We just sold our 3800 sq ft. house and moving into 1800 sq ft home. It was actually a trade. This makes things difficult so we are going to move into the 5th for a week our so. I'm sure glad I didn't put anti freeze in. We've dropped below frezing but I didn't worry.
